My First Painting

This painting was frustrating from the start because my linseed oil mixture was old. The painting was drying way too fast for me to subtract the midtones and highlights using the rubber shaper tool. I had to constantly add paint before I could sketch in the birds. Before I knew it, the painting was too dark which made it hard to see the midtones. I consider this a successful fail since I learned something.
